Maura Dowling

Maura Dowling, PhD and registered general nurse, has a clinical background in cancer nursing. Maura is also a registered nurse tutor and has 18 years of experience developing online modules for postgraduate oncology nurses. She works as an Associate Professor at the University of Galway and is director of the Postgraduate cancer nursing program.  She is the co-Chair of the research working group of the European Nursing Oncology Society and an associate editor with Seminars in Oncology Nursing. Maura has published widely on cancer and other nursing-related topics with over 130 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 25 August 2023).

Silvija Piškorjanac

Content expert

Silvija Piškorjanac, MedSc and PhD candidate,  is a cancer nurse specialist with 25 years of experience in cancer nursing and advanced nurse practitioner in the field of transfusion medicine. She is the head mentor for cancer nurses at the University Hospital Osijek in Croatia. She works as a full-time lecturer at the department of Palliative Medicine and Nursing.

Her interests focus on palliative care and symptom management in the treatment of cancer patients, ethics and philosophy in nursing, and voluntary blood donation. She is an active member of several professional associations and committees in the field of cancer nursing.  Piškorjanac has published widely in the field of nursing.

Anne-Mari Seppälä

Content expert

Anne-Mari Seppälä, MNSc, is a registered nurse with work experience in hematology ward at Turku University Hospital. She works as a senior lecturer at Health and Well-being Unit of Turku UAS and is currently studying health technology in Master’s degree program at Turku UAS.

Virpi Sulosaari

Content expert (Senior Researcher)

Virpi Sulosaari, PhD, has a cancer nursing background. She is currently the President of the European Oncology Nursing Society. She has extensive experience on leading national and international RDI projects. Her special interests are in advancing cancer nursing, care of people affected by cancer and interprofessional collaboration as a way towards person-centred cancer care and services. She works as a principal lecturer at Health and Well-being Unit of Turku UAS and leads there the Advancing Supportive Cancer and Palliative Care (CARE) research group.

Isa Öhberg

Project Manager

Isa Öhberg, MNSc, is a registered nurse with work experience in primary and specialized health care in Finland and Norway. In Finland she has worked with cancer patients and palliative patients. She is a senior lecturer and is responsible for cancer nursing and palliative care studies in bachelor’s degree and specialization studies at Turku UAS.
